FAQs - Diamonds
A diamond's reflective qualities, based on it's angles and proportions.
Cut is the only 4 C influenced by humans. It is the most important factor as it determines the brilliance of a diamond. A well cut diamond with balanced proportions and symmetry permits maximum light to be reflected, and will be bright, fiery and sparkling. Diamonds that are cut too deep or too shallow cause leakage of light through the side or bottom, resulting in less brilliance and ultimately, value.
The cut of a diamond is often confused with it's shape. Shape refers to the outward appearance of the diamond, rather than it's reflective qualities.
