In choosing a diamond, it is important to understand four factors known as the 4 Cs - cut, colour, clarity and carat. The interplay of these factors determine a diamond's beauty, rarity and value. Diamonds with the combination of the highest 4C gradings are more rare and consequently greater in value. No one C is more important than the other. The factor that is most desirable is purely dependent on individual preference. We recommend a good balance of the 4 Cs within a given budget.
Besides understanding the 4C's we recommend the following when buying a diamond:
1/ Examine your diamonds loose
2/ Examine the colour of your diamonds with a grading tray under proper lighting
3/ Examine your diamonds inclusions with a microscope
4/ Seeing is believing. Examine the actual diamond, not just from a picture or the internet.
Diamonds with the same specification can face up differently.
5/ Your diamond must be certified by a internationally recognised independent laboratory.
All Daniella diamonds, 0.50ct and above comes with a certificate from laboratories such as GIA
HRD or DCLA.
